Underground Solu'shn

Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

Music specialist & audio emporium with 1000s of vinyl records, CDs, and audio products, plus a comprehensive selection of sound equipment and DJ technology.

The sole surviving independent Dance, Electronic, and specialist record shop in Edinburgh, selling quality music and audio equipment in Scotland’s capital since 1995.

Starting in a dingy Old Town basement on Cockburn Street before relocating to overground premises further down the same street, they began as an ‘underground’ record shop selling House, Techno, Disco, Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, and Drum & Bass on their preferred vinyl medium. To this day they still support the format which kicked it all off, stocking hundreds of new releases every week, though embracing any new technology which makes the enjoyment of music possible. They've also expanded the range of music they sell, to incorporate Classic Rock, Pop and current indie releases.

You’ll find their shelves groaning with the latest DJ and music production equipment including turntables, mixers, CD decks, midi controllers, computer DJ systems, software, speakers, and headphones from all the top brands such as Pioneer, Novation, Allen & Heath, Focusrite, Rane, Native Instruments, Korg, Akai, Reloop, Sennheiser, Stanton, Numark, M-Audio, Ortofon and Pro-ject.

There are stacks of wax to wade into, and countless CDs to get your ears around, but also a wide range of accessories including cartridges & stylus, vinyl/equipment cases/bags, T-shirts, and numerous books and magazines.

Mainly a dance specialist but stocks other genres too. Large stock, mostly new vinyl. Friendly staff, they offered to order in anything I could not find. I found a few out-of-print 12"s here. A real record shop in the business of selling records rather than a place some dull old guy runs so he can pose in front of some old classic rock collectables and feel important.

Large selection of old & new vinyl. But very little of it is in categories by A to Z so makes difficult to look through. I would not bother going again!
